The most oldest Japanese knives are discovered in Nara era (710-794). Unfortunetly, this knife looks more like a Japanese sword. After the moving generation, Japanese swordsmiths started to make small useful kitchen knifes. Japan is famous for making knifes with high quality because their history comes from blacksmith.
